The Center for Craniofacial Molecular Biology (CCMB) is proud to recognize Dr. Pedro Sanchez for his five years of service as a faculty member at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC. With his strong passion for advancing our understanding of genetics, Dr. Sanchez has been an invaluable asset in training future members of the medical community as well as contributing his insightful expertise to research within CCMB.

Recently, Dr. Sanchez was also honored with the ClinGen Significant Contributor Award for his work as a co-chair on the Craniofacial Malformations Gene Curation Expert Panel (CGEP).

“Pedro has been a wonderful asset to the Craniofacial Malformations GCEP. He actively participates in curation discussions and skillfully involves experts in the field to join and contribute to call discussions. Additionally, he finds fulfillment in mentoring early career research curators through manuscript writing, curation assistance, and providing invaluable career advice.”

Additionally, Dr. Sanchez was recognized as a 2024 Global Genes RARE Champion in Research Award nominee. This honor is awarded to “trailblazers and leaders in rare disease research, drug development and scientific processes who have taken an innovative approach to advance outcomes for the rare disease community.”
